"You've hit your weekly limit · resets {day} {time}"
Updated
"You've hit your weekly limit · resets {day} {time}" is Claude Code's message when your weekly allowance is used up. Anthropic says the weekly limit resets at a fixed time each week that is assigned to your account, and the message names that time; /usage shows it too. Only waiting, usage credits or an upgrade get you going earlier. It is not the account-wide reset this board tracks; the row below shows the last one on record.

What does "You've hit your weekly limit · resets {day} {time}" mean?
Pro and Max plans have a weekly usage limit on top of the five-hour session limit. It applies across all models, and Anthropic says it resets at a fixed time each week that is assigned to your account; your reset day and time stay the same regardless of when you start using Claude.
The Error reference shows the message with an example of "resets Mon 12:00am". Real reports carry a date and a time zone, such as "resets Sep 18 at 3am (America/Los_Angeles)" or "resets 4am (Europe/Madrid)"; three issues with this exact title were opened between 2026-09-10 and 2026-09-16.
The docs warn that usage counts against the session and weekly allowances at the same time, so a single burst such as a large workflow fanout can exhaust the weekly allowance before the session window resets. Weekly limits were announced on 2025-07-28 for late August 2025, estimated to affect less than 5% of subscribers.
Which window is full?
| Window | Resets | Where to check |
|---|---|---|
| Session limit (5-hour) | Every five hours; the exact time is the one in the message | /usage in Claude Code, or Settings > Usage on claude.ai |
| Weekly limit | At a fixed time each week that is assigned to your account | /usage in Claude Code, or Settings > Usage on claude.ai |
What to do when you see it
- Run /usage
It shows the weekly bar and the exact reset time, so you can confirm it is the weekly window rather than the five-hour one.
- Check Settings > Usage on claude.ai
The same page shows when the weekly limit resets for Opus only and for all other models.
- Buy usage credits if you cannot wait
On Pro and Max, /usage-credits turns on usage credits; on Team and Enterprise it requests them from your admin. Credits do not move the reset time.
- Upgrade for a bigger allowance
Max 5x and Max 20x include five and twenty times the Pro per-session allowance; the Error reference points to claude.com/pricing for higher base limits.
- Do not expect auto-continue on Desktop
The Desktop app's session-limit card offers an "Auto-continue when limits reset" checkbox; the weekly-limit card does not. Plan the wait instead.
When does it reset?
Your own window: the weekly limit resets at a fixed time each week that is assigned to your account, which is the time in the message. Usage credits do not change it. Put that time on a countdown with the window tracker linked below; the five-hour session window keeps resetting on its own clock in the meantime, but it cannot lend you weekly capacity.
Account-wide resets: separately, Anthropic sometimes announces a reset for everyone. Those are what this board records, each linked to its original post, and the row above shows the last one. They are announced, not scheduled, so this site does not promise one.

FAQ
Why did my reset time jump from tonight to next week?
Because you crossed from the five-hour session limit into the weekly limit. The session window resets every five hours, but the weekly window resets only at the fixed weekly time assigned to your account. /usage shows both bars, so you can see which one is at 100%.
Does the weekly limit reset at the same time every week?
Yes. Anthropic's help center says the weekly limit "resets at a fixed time each week that is assigned to your account", and that your reset day and time stay the same regardless of when you start using Claude or when your subscription begins.
Can Claude Code wait and continue automatically after a weekly reset?
In the CLI, the automatic wait added in v2.1.234 applies to usage limits in an interactive subscription session. In the Desktop app the docs are explicit that the weekly-limit card has no "Auto-continue when limits reset" checkbox, only the session-limit card does.
How much is the weekly limit?
Not published. Anthropic states that Max 5x and Max 20x include five and twenty times the Pro per-session allowance and that weekly limits were expected to affect less than 5% of subscribers when announced on 2025-07-28, but it does not publish a token or message count. This site does not estimate one.
