Claude Code usage limits

Anthropic publishes no message counts for Claude Code: the number of messages "will vary based on message length" and the model or feature used. What is published is the shape: a session limit that "will reset every five hours", a weekly limit across all models at a fixed time assigned to your account, and Max 5x and 20x at five and twenty times the Pro per-session allowance. The last account-wide Claude reset on this board was announced Sep 4, 2026.

What are the limits on each plan?
Anthropic publishes no absolute numbers; the five-hour cells show only the multiples Anthropic states relative to Pro or to a Standard seat.

How the windows work
Claude Code on a subscription draws from the same pool as claude.ai: "all activity in both tools counts against the same usage limits". The session limit "will reset every five hours". Settings > Usage on claude.ai shows how much of the five-hour session you have used "plus the amount of time remaining in the session", and /usage inside Claude Code shows the same plan usage bars.
The weekly limit was announced on 2025-07-28 for late August 2025, estimated to apply to "less than 5% of subscribers". It "applies across all models" and "resets at a fixed time each week that is assigned to your account"; the usage page also lists a separate weekly reset "for Opus only". Usage credits, where enabled, "don't affect this reset timing" for the five-hour limit.
Team seats work the same way per seat: each member’s usage "draws from a per-seat allowance that resets on a rolling five-hour window and a weekly window", shared with Claude chat and Cowork, and the seat tier (Standard or Premium) sets its size. Anthropic has not published a message count or token figure for any tier, and reserves "weekly and monthly caps" at its discretion.

FAQ
Is there a published number of messages per five hours on Claude Pro or Max?
No. Anthropic’s Pro article says the number of messages "will vary based on message length" and the model or feature you use. Max 5x and Max 20x are defined only relative to Pro: "five times" and "20 times the Pro plan's per-session usage allowance". Settings > Usage on claude.ai and /usage in Claude Code show your own remaining share and the time left in the session.
When does the Claude weekly limit reset?
At a fixed time each week that is assigned to your account; Anthropic does not publish the day. The usage page shows when your weekly limit resets "for Opus only and all other models". Reaching the five-hour session limit does not move the weekly clock, and usage credits do not change the five-hour reset timing either.
Does Claude Code share limits with claude.ai and the IDE extensions?
Yes. "Both Pro and Max plans offer usage limits that are shared across Claude and Claude Code", and your usage of all product surfaces "counts towards the same usage limit". On Team plans the per-seat allowance is likewise shared with Claude chat and Cowork.
Has Anthropic ever reset the weekly limit for everyone?
