Do Claude Code's 5-hour session and weekly limits reset together?

No. Anthropic's help center says 'Your session-based usage limit will reset every five hours', while the weekly limit 'resets at a fixed time each week that is assigned to your account', regardless of when you start using Claude. Both apply on Pro and Max, are shared across claude.ai, Claude Code and the IDE, and Anthropic publishes no message counts. Weekly limits were announced on 2025-07-28 for late August. Run /usage in Claude Code to see both bars.

Pro and Max 'also have a weekly usage limit that applies across all models', and 'The weekly limit resets at a fixed time each week that is assigned to your account.' The weekly clock does not move with your activity: 'Your reset day and time stay the same regardless of when you start using Claude or when your subscription begins'.

Does buying usage credits reset my session window?
