"Paused — you've hit your limit."
Updated
"Paused — you've hit your limit." is the pause modal in Claude Design, the canvas in the Claude desktop app. Issue #92927 (2026-09-08) shows it on a Max 20x account at 95% of the weekly limit, with the footer "You've used 95% of your weekly limit · It resets Thu, Sep 10"; Resume worked after about 30 clicks, so the account was not actually out. The footer's reset is your own weekly time; Settings > Usage shows the real number.

What does "Paused — you've hit your limit." mean?
Claude Design shows this modal when it treats your plan allowance as used up. In issue #92927 the footer under the canvas read "You've used 95% of your weekly limit · It resets Thu, Sep 10" and the settings page carried a banner, "You're close to your weekly limit."
The reporter, on Max 20x, was able to continue after clicking Resume about 30 times, which points to a false pause rather than an exhausted allowance. The issue was labeled invalid and closed as not planned because Claude Design is not part of the Claude Code repository; it is still the only verbatim record of the message.
The limit behind the footer is the weekly one Anthropic describes for Pro and Max: it applies across all models and resets at a fixed time each week that is assigned to your account. Settings > Usage on claude.ai shows the same weekly bar and reset time.
Which window is full?
| Window | Resets | Where to check |
|---|---|---|
| Session limit (5-hour) | Every five hours; the exact time is the one in the message | Settings > Usage on claude.ai (session used and time remaining) |
| Weekly limit | At a fixed time each week that is assigned to your account | Settings > Usage on claude.ai (weekly bar, with a separate bar for Opus) |
What to do when you see it
- Click Resume
In issue #92927 the pause lifted after repeated Resume clicks on an account at 95%, not 100%. Try it before assuming you are out.
- Check the real percentage
Open Settings > Usage on claude.ai. Anthropic's usage-limit article says it shows the session bar with time remaining and when the weekly limit resets for Opus only and for all other models.
- Wait for the time in the footer
If the weekly bar really is full, the footer's "It resets" date is your own weekly reset, fixed for your account each week.
- Report it to Anthropic support
The Claude Code repository closed #92927 as invalid because Claude Design is outside its scope; use the help center for a persistent false pause.
When does it reset?
Your own window: the date after "It resets" in the footer is your weekly reset. Anthropic says the weekly limit resets at a fixed time each week that is assigned to your account, and the five-hour session limit resets every five hours. Put the date on a countdown with the window tracker linked below.
Account-wide resets: separately, Anthropic sometimes announces a reset for everyone. Those are what this board records, each linked to its original post, and the row above shows the last one. They are announced, not scheduled, so this site does not promise one.

FAQ
Am I really out of usage when I see "Paused — you've hit your limit."?
Not necessarily. Issue #92927 documents the modal at 95% of the weekly limit on Max 20x, and Resume eventually worked. Check Settings > Usage on claude.ai for the actual percentage before waiting.
What does "You've used 95% of your weekly limit · It resets Thu, Sep 10" mean?
It is the usage footer in Claude Design. The percentage is your weekly allowance used, and the date is your own weekly reset, which Anthropic says happens at a fixed time each week assigned to your account.
Why was the issue closed?
It was labeled invalid and closed as not planned because Claude Design is not part of the anthropics/claude-code repository. That does not mean the behavior was denied; it means the tracker was the wrong place. Use Anthropic support for Claude Design problems.
Does Claude Design share limits with Claude Code and claude.ai?
The footer in #92927 reports the same weekly limit Anthropic describes for Pro and Max, which applies across all models. Anthropic's help center says usage on claude.ai, Claude Code and Claude Desktop counts toward the same usage limit.
