"1 reset available"

The label sits in the profile menu's usage summary in the Codex desktop app, on the web and in the CLI's /usage menu. OpenAI's help center: "Select the usage summary showing an available reset, such as '1 reset available' or 'Full reset.'" The number is how many banked resets you hold.

A banked reset is not credit and does not raise your plan's limit. Redeeming it does one thing: "Using a full banked reset refreshes your 5-hour and weekly Codex usage windows and changes your weekly reset date." It "is consumed only when it successfully refreshes at least one eligible usage window. If there is nothing to reset, it remains available."

They come from promotions. OpenAI Support: "Banked resets are promotional Codex rate-limit resets, they aren't something you can normally purchase." The help center records drops to Plus, Pro and Business users on 2026-09-03 and 2026-09-04 around the GPT-6 Astra launch, alongside a separate global reset that was applied immediately and could not be banked. Banked resets are usable for 30 days after they are granted.

Your own windows: nothing changes until you redeem. Once you do, both windows refresh at once and Settings → Usage shows the new weekly reset date, which /status also prints; a purchased instant reset behaves the same way but cannot be saved. Put the new time into the window tracker for a countdown.

Account-wide resets: an announced global reset "does not create a saved reset"; it is applied to everyone immediately and shows up on this board as a reset event.
