How does the SuperGrok weekly usage pool reset, and what does a Grok reset token do?

by vortwangUpdated

On the schedule in your Usage tab. xAI's Grok FAQ says paid plans get 'one shared weekly usage pool' across Chat, Imagine, Voice and Build, and 'The usage pool limit resets every week on a schedule shown in the Usage tab in Settings.' A reset token, mentioned once officially by @grok on 2026-08-13, clears that pool a single time from settings. Grok Bot is metered separately and 'Usage resets weekly'. xAI publishes no numbers for any plan.

What the official docs say

How it is counted

One pool, one weekly clock. Since June 2026 the FAQ describes 'one shared weekly usage pool that you can spend however you like across any Grok product' instead of per-product daily limits. 'Different products cost different amounts depending on how much compute that product requires.' Settings → Usage (web and mobile) shows a progress bar, a breakdown by product, 'Your weekly reset date and time' and your Extra Usage Credits balance.

When it is met: 'paid features will pause until your weekly limit resets', while free-tier Chat and Voice 'are separate from your weekly usage limit and resets on their own schedule'. The FAQ's options are Extra Usage Credits ('used after your plan's included weekly usage is exhausted', expiring one year after purchase), a higher plan, or Auto Top Up.

Reset tokens. The only official statement is the @grok post of 2026-08-13: 'We've reset limits to help you keep building during the Grok 4.6 launch. Use a reset token from settings in Grok on desktop or mobile.' The FAQ does not describe tokens, how many you get, or an expiry. An automated @grok reply on 2026-08-12 said one-time resets 'don't stack' and expire on a date; that reply is AI-generated and this site treats it as unconfirmed.

Grok Bot is a different pool. xAI's 2026-08-26 announcement says Grok Bot 'comes with its own usage, separate from your Grok and Cursor plans', and its docs say only 'Usage resets weekly.' On the same day @bot posted 'We're also resetting weekly usage limits for all users.' Account-wide resets like that, and the 2026-08-13 one, are what this board records for Grok.

FAQ

Where do I see my SuperGrok reset time?

Settings → Usage in the Grok app, on web and mobile. The FAQ says it shows a progress bar, a breakdown by product (API, Build, Chat, Imagine, Voice), 'Your weekly reset date and time' and your Extra Usage Credits balance.

What does a Grok reset token do and where do I use it?

It clears your weekly pool once. The @grok post of 2026-08-13 says to 'Use a reset token from settings in Grok on desktop or mobile.' xAI's docs do not describe tokens; whether they stack or expire is not published, so redeem one when the pool is nearly full rather than holding it.

Does using Grok Bot in Cursor drain my SuperGrok pool?

No. xAI says Grok Bot 'comes with its own usage, separate from your Grok and Cursor plans, so anything you hand off to a Bot won't count against your existing usage', and its usage resets weekly on its own.

Has xAI reset everyone at once?

Yes. On 2026-08-13 @grok posted 'We've reset limits to help you keep building during the Grok 4.6 launch', and on 2026-08-26 @bot posted 'We're also resetting weekly usage limits for all users.' The board above records each such reset with its post; xAI does not announce them in advance.
