"You've reached your Grok Bot usage limit. It resets in {N} days."

Updated

"You've reached your Grok Bot usage limit. It resets in {N} days." is the banner in Cursor when your weekly Grok Bot allowance is at 100%. xAI's docs say "Usage resets weekly." and that subscriptions include weekly usage with optional on-demand usage; the size of the allowance is not published. A Cursor staff reply on 2026-09-02 confirms "Your weekly usage resets on its own (the app shows the countdown)." The countdown is yours, not an account-wide reset.

What does "You've reached your Grok Bot usage limit. It resets in {N} days." mean?

Grok Bot draws from a weekly allowance. xAI's Grok Bot overview says "Usage resets weekly.", and its FAQ says "Grok Bot subscriptions include weekly usage; eligible accounts can add on-demand usage billed from model and token cost." When the sidebar shows weekly usage at 100%, Cursor shows this banner with a countdown in days.

The verbatim record is a Cursor forum thread from 2026-09-01: the banner read "You’ve reached your Grok Bot usage limit. It resets in 3 days." and appeared twice within 21 seconds. A Cursor staff member replied on 2026-09-02 that the two banners were "just two blocked attempts after the pool was already full, not a double charge" and that "Your weekly usage resets on its own (the app shows the countdown)."

xAI has not published how much weekly usage each plan includes: not published. Since 2026-08-26 Grok Bot is included with SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus, SuperGrok Heavy and paid Cursor plans, with "its own usage, separate from your Grok and Cursor plans"; with both a Cursor and a SuperGrok subscription, "Grok Bot uses whichever has more usage."

What to do when you see it

  1. Read the countdown

The banner's "It resets in N days" is your own weekly reset. Cursor staff: "Your weekly usage resets on its own (the app shows the countdown)."

  2. Check usage and billing

xAI's troubleshooting page says that when usage is exhausted or an on-demand spending limit is reached, review usage and billing from the account access page or Usage & Billing.

  3. Add on-demand usage if you cannot wait

The Grok Bot FAQ says eligible accounts can add on-demand usage billed from model and token cost. For Grok chat plans, the Grok FAQ lists Extra Usage Credits, Auto Top Up or a higher plan.

  4. Stop bots from waking each other

In the forum thread, bot-to-bot review messages each ran a turn that counted toward weekly usage. Cursor staff suggested running the work in one Command Agent with subagents and deleting unused specialist bots.

  5. Link a SuperGrok subscription

If you have both a Cursor and a SuperGrok subscription, Grok Bot uses whichever has more usage, per xAI's FAQ.

When does it reset?

Your own window: Grok Bot usage resets weekly, on the countdown the app shows; xAI does not publish the allowance size or a fixed reset hour for Grok Bot. For Grok chat, the Grok FAQ says "The usage pool limit resets every week on a schedule shown in the Usage tab in Settings." Neither is something this site can compute for you.

Account-wide resets: xAI has also reset weekly usage for everyone, for example on 2026-08-26 when @bot announced "We're also resetting weekly usage limits for all users." Those announcements are what this board records, each linked to its original post, and the row above shows the last one. They are announced, not scheduled.

FAQ

How much weekly Grok Bot usage do I get?

Not published. xAI's docs say Grok Bot subscriptions include weekly usage and that usage resets weekly, but no plan-by-plan amount is stated. This site does not estimate one; the countdown in the banner is the only official signal about your own reset.

The banner appeared twice. Was I charged twice?

No, according to Cursor staff in the forum thread: the second banner was "just two blocked attempts after the pool was already full, not a double charge."

Can I keep working before the reset?

xAI's Grok Bot FAQ says eligible accounts can add on-demand usage billed from model and token cost, and the troubleshooting page points to Usage & Billing when usage is exhausted. For Grok chat plans, the Grok FAQ lists Extra Usage Credits, Auto Top Up or upgrading.

Does my SuperGrok plan add to my Cursor Grok Bot usage?

Not additively. xAI's FAQ says that with both a Cursor and a SuperGrok subscription, "Grok Bot uses whichever has more usage." Grok Bot's allowance is also separate from your Grok and Cursor plan usage, per the 2026-08-26 announcement.
