"You've hit your Sonnet limit · resets {time}"

The Error reference lists four rolling-allowance messages side by side: session, weekly, Opus and Sonnet. "You've hit your Sonnet limit · resets 3:45pm" is the Sonnet one. Claude Code "blocks further requests until the reset time shown in the message".

Unlike the session and weekly limits, which "are shared across all models, so switching models doesn't restore access", the Opus and Sonnet limits "each apply only to requests to that model family". Running /model and picking a model outside the Sonnet family keeps you working; each model has its own prompt cache, so the next request re-reads the whole conversation with no cache hits.

Claude Code does not start its automatic wait for this message while you run a model outside the Sonnet family, because your next turn may not hit that limit. It opens the usage-limit options menu instead, and you can pick "Wait here, then continue automatically" if you would rather wait.

Your own window: the message names the reset time for the Sonnet family, and /usage shows the same clock. The session limit resets every five hours and the weekly limit at a fixed time each week assigned to your account; the Sonnet limit has its own time.
